Bottom line: Studio Mehler flat out worked a miracle on our 1970’s styled, narrow, kitchen in our Petaluma, Ca home. As a host on HGTV, I’ve worked with dozens of designers and the best are creative, flexible, experienced and last but not least, FUN to work with: Studio Mehler designer Ken Burghardt absolutely delivered on all counts, working within the physical footprint of the original kitchen and our budget!. No detail was left undone, including being our advocate working with contractors and guiding us through the process, which can be overwhelming if you don’t have someone in your corner. The end result is an elegant, gorgeous kitchen that also feels like a piece of art. We would recommend Studio Mehler and designer Ken Burghardt in a heartbeat.

Perhaps the strongest recommendation we could make is that one could never accuse Ken of designing a “Ken Burghardt kitchen”. He designs your kitchen, where your tastes and sensibilities are translated functionally and aesthetically. Our tastes tend toward the modern, very clean and Ken pulled off a seamless integration of such a kitchen in our vintage San Francisco Victorian. At one point we had to choose a color for the walls. Should it be stark white? Should there be bold flashes of primary colors? Should we go with an off white? God, we hate eggshell white! No one ever told us a remodel could be so stressful?! Enter Ken. “Take a look at this.” We did. It was perfect. We got to the point where we only half jokingly would say, “Let’s ask Ken if we like this. Would we recommend Ken Burghardt to design a friend’s kitchen. We would. We have. He did. And when Ken was done, the friends felt as we did. Leaning against the door frame at the entry to the new kitchen, gazing at the finished product one might be heard to utter (choose your superlative) “cool”, “elegant, “stunning”, perhaps even, “sweet”.

We had the pleasure to work with Ken Burghardt and Studio Mehler several years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. Ours is an older home and Ken professed to be an expert in maintaining the character of our Craftsmen home into the new kitchen. He was right. Our kitchen has been on a local charitable home tour as well as on a nationally broadcast kitchen show and we are continually receiving compliments on the job that he did. After living eight years with a small, outdated and really dysfunctional kitchen (we are talking pink formica with gold flecks), we finally decided to go for the big remodel. Ken Burghardt (Studio Mehler) and I hit it off immediately and Ken quickly got the big picture of what I envisioned (not being much of a detail person, big picture was the best I could do in describing what I wanted). The Studio Mehler team designed my new kitchen and basically held my hand through the entire process of selecting and purchasing everything from cabinets and appliances right down to the drawer pulls. Our new kitchen is magnificent, everything I wanted and couldn’t imagine! No one ever walks into our home without commenting on its beauty and originality.
